With the short report GISTHUBCITY gathered, study released in Nature explained that US has a “substantial underestimation” of coronavirus cases because of its restrictions on testing, while the actual figure could rise by three to 20 times higher.
The United State of America mainly tests people with moderate to severe symptoms, and those with mild or no symptoms are rarely tested, this was noted by researchers.
Sean Wu of the Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of California, Berkeley, analysed the testing rate between February and April.
During the testing they corrected for incomplete and inaccurate tests to figure out the specific cases.
They found discrepancies between states, with higher rates of testing in the northwest and northeast, and lower levels in the south and Midwest.
