This the second time strike resolution between Federal Government and the leader of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU will be cancelled.
Mr. Charles Akpan, who the Deputy Director of Press and Public Relations in the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, announced the postponement in a statement released on Tuesday.
He explained that the consultation on the latest offer by the Federal Government to striking university teachers was still ongoing.
He said, “Good morning, colleagues. Please, note that the meeting with ASUU, earlier scheduled for today, is cancelled.
But he added that the inauguration of the technical committee on PMS will be held as scheduled.
Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, the ASUU President said the union’s leadership did not agree on any meeting with the government.
We never agreed on any meeting. What we said was due consultations, and consultations are going on at the two levels, according to him.
Consultation are going on, as we believe that government is also doing the necessary thing and that’s why the meeting has not be held, he said.
The next schedule will be announce when is time for that as consultation is in progress.
