Reports revealed that Charles Ollivon was replaced by Baptiste Serin to captain France against Italy, as the French Rugby Federal (FFR) announced on Monday.
With the agreement between the French league clubs and FFR, it shows that players are limited to three internationals this autumn and flanker Ollivon, the captain since the arrival of Fabien Galthie earlier this year as head coach, has played his quota.
However, Serin will only be captain of the French national team for a single match due to he has already played in the victories over Wales and Ireland this autumn, report says.
Serin is one of the most experienced players at 26 years old in a squad that includes 16 uncapped players.
I have 100 percent confidence in you, you know that, said Ollivon. And Baptiste is playing in a pivotal position, with responsibilities taken on the pitch,” said team manager Raphael Ibanez.
The team manager added that, his experience and leadership in the field could greatly help newcomers and youngsters.
