#EndSARS issue was raised by the Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Adamu on Tuesday, as he warns police officers in Ebonyi State to comply to the rule of their engagement to stop any violent protest but not to kill any protesters.
This was made know by IGP Adamu while addressing officers during his one day visit to Ebonyi State as part of his tour after the #EndSARS protest.
He added by saying the force will not allow any form of violent in the country.
He, however, decried the damage caused by the End SARs protest, just as he commended the personnel on their efforts to save the country from anarchy and calamity during the period.
IGP Adamu then tasked Nigerians to always maintain peace and order in order to avoid trouble, and the force ready to work hard to protest the lives and property of the citizenry.
According to him, “if you want to involve in an protest, then it must be peaceful and police will provide maximum protection to carry such protest, but if it is going to be violence, we will stop you from violent.
“You, as police are specially trained to protect lives and not to kill them. Always know when to use your firearm, but you are not meant to kill,” he advised.
But, the Commissioner of Police Ebonyi State Command, Mr Philip Maku earlier expressed his concern over the destruction caused by the #EndSARS protest.
