Nigeria have been reporting low cases for a while, but NCDC said that a rate of coronavirus infections during the #EndSARS protests over police brutality will be clear in the next two weeks.
This statement was revealed by Dr. Chike Ihekweazu, Director General of the NCDC on Monday, and said the curfew imposed by state governments to stop crisis, looting and vandalisation of property have slowed down testing of Covid-19 in the country.
This was disclosed at the media briefing of the President Task Force on Covid-19 in Abuja, Dr. Chike Ihekweazu stated that we should be expecting a spike of coronavirus cases because of the street protests nationwide.
He added that about 40 to 60 percent of our testing cases are reported from Lagos. Right now the labs in Lagos have not been able to performs as they normally would for the past two weeks now.
But the exact surge of the deadly virus called coronavirus will be revealed in the next two weeks.
We have to be careful this time around because of the spreading of the virus, we have gathered in our masses for whatever reason and for now, we have to keep our eyes open for the potential consequences.
Protecting ourselves is the key now, and we should follow the Covid-19 protocol which we have know already, he said.
