Some unknown hoodlums set the Imo State correctional center on fire while free about hundreds of inmates during that scene.
Reports gathered to show that those hoodlums took the chance of Easter’s calm atmosphere to annex the center at the wee hours of Monday.
The State Commissioner of Police, Nasiru Mohammed, explained that they had deployed about 4,760 force to make sure there is maximum security during and after the Easter celebration.
There was sporadic shooting on Monday morning that lasted for three hours before they bombed the center, reports say.
Owerri residents and commuters who fold the Okigwe road are alarmed as the situation is slip.
All the efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Orlando Ikeokwu, proved abortive as his phone was unavailable at press time.
