Option2World calls for office of SA on Drug Abuse in Kwara

The NGO also said “issue of drug abuse and NGOs are so wide to be merge with any other portfolio.
This was contained in a letter written by the National Coordinator ,Adeoye Kayode Silas . “It shall be an exemplary step and major One at that to curtail the issue of Drug Abuse in Kwara State.”
Adeoye who identified some of the increase in some major crimes such as rape, cultism, robbery among other issues to the influence of drug.
The Coordinator however attributed causes of drug abuse to Peer Group influence , Unemployment, inadequate Education, idleness, and Lack of Effects of Government Policy on Drug Abuse.
He explained that the essence of the request is for Government to fully focus on the eradication of DRUG ABUSE through the inauguration of Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Drug Abuse and NGOs Matters.
According to him, “government plays a very important and key roles in reducing drug abuse among the youths.
“Kudos to Her Excellency Dr. Mrs Olufolake Abdulrahman, the First Lady of Kwara State who has been working and Partnering NGOs and other stakeholders to fight this worrisome issue in the State.”
He mentioned that the office when created would give several Committees, NGOs and Agencies working on Drug Abuse but lacks Government Support and Direct access.
Silas charged government to be a major player in the elimination of drug abuse in the State and to be supported by by other stakeholders.
He informed that Civil Society Organisation and Non Governmental Organisations are grassroots stakeholders who play a very important role in reducing drug abuse in the society. They are working endlessly base on there capacity. It a Voluntary work which needs support from Government or any benevolent individuals
