Nigeria: Using Of Phones While Driving Bans By FRSC – Lagos

A statement was issue on Sunday by Olusegun Ogungbemide, FRSC Sector Commander, said the corps had perceive a rising disregard of traffic and safety regulations.

Therefore, the Federal Road Safety Commission. (FRSC) Lagos Sector Command has banned the use of phones while driving.

He also included some other infractions as internet surfing, rickety vehicles that are not roadworthy, non-use of a seatbelt and lane shunting and general irresponsible driving culture.

Then he reiterated the National Road Traffic Regulations 2012 section 166 (1) on the use of communication devices while driving on the road.

Many lives have been lost due to the distraction from the use of phones while driving.

“Peace-loving, responsible Lagosians and road users are also passing through a lot of pains due to the actions of these few who will not obey simple regulations to keep themselves alive”.

Therefore, all commands of the corps have been given the mandate to tackle all forms of road misconduct.
