Reports claim that, resident doctors at the Ondo state University Medical sciences Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTH), Akure, have begin to go on strike after unpaid 4 month salaries.
Also, there is warning from them that hospital will be shut down over the salaries, the doctors matched to the office of the Chief Director, said they are owned four months salaries.
The strike began on Sunday, November 1, 2020, and then threatened to embark on an indefinite strike on November 9, 2020.
They decried a situation where other health workers under the health management board are receiving their salaries regularly.
Dr Taiwo Olagbe, who is the spokesman of the aggrieved doctors, then appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to prevail on the state government to settle their unpaid salaries as fast as possible.
However, Gisthubcity News reports the address from the Physician in Charge of UNIMED, Akure, Dr Adesina Adetan, as he said government will soon streamline their payment system with those of other workers in the state. (NAN)
The protests is still going on, and action towards it is what the doctors waiting for now.
