New Fresh Attacks Kill 19 People In Southern Kaduna

Some gunmen suspected to be herdsmen kill 19 people yesterday in five communities in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Dr. Elias Manza who is the chairman of the council, confirmed the development saying 19 corpses were recovered after the attacks.

The attacks took place despite the 24-hour curfew imposed by the Kaduna State government on Zangon Kataf, Kauru, Jama’a and Kaura LGAs to stop persistent attacks, which have led to killings and destruction of property.

Security Agencies Need Deepen Cooperation, Says By Buhari

The Nigeria president Muhammadu Buhari directed the armed force yesterday and all security agencies to make sure that they promote and implement comprehensive security philosophies and measures driven by long-established principles of jointness through inter-agency cooperation.

He also said his government’s policy tripod of ushering in economic prosperity, taming corruption and engendering an enabling security environment would not be realised without an armed force fit for the purpose.

W’Bank Board’s Meeting Failure Delays Nigeria’s Loan Request

The $1.5 billion, which is the first tranche of the federal government’s $3 billion request from the World Bank is to be delayed as the much-awaited meeting of the multilateral institution’s board of directors didn’t hold yesterday as scheduled.

A reliable source disclosed that the federal government would now have to wait till either September or October when the multilateral institution’s next board meeting would hold.

Use Of Face Mask Is Compulsory And Must Be Implemented – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has mandated the state governments and the FCT to enforce non-pharmaceutical guidelines, primarily the use of face masks, in public appearance and places.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman, Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, said this in Abuja at the 55th joint national briefing of the task force.

According to him, for the past nine weeks (from 2nd June 2020), the government has been running phase 2 of the eased lockdown, which has witnessed two extensions.
