The latest international star to join the Kumerica bandwagon is the American rapper Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label signee Victor Kwesi Mensah.
Victor Kwesi Mensah, known professionally as Vic Mensa, the 27-year-old rapper was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Ghanaian parents, Betsy Mensah and Edward Mensah, but Vic Mensa seems to have not forgotten his root as he jams to one of the trending Kumerican songs.
Vic took to his Instagram yesterday to share the video for rising musician Kawabanga’s song “Akatafoc” on his story.
He later played the song and jammed to it as the term Kumerica has been trending on social media platforms in Ghana for almost a month now.
The song is a combination of America and Kumasi, and the term which refers to modern-day Kumasi.
But recently, two of Kumasi top rappers, Strongman and Ypee dropped new single with the title Kumerica, and Shatta Wale also joined by releasing a new song featuring the Kumerican boys.
The top discussion was the term topic during the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
