Women Involvement In Illicit Drug Trade And Substance Abuse Must Stop, Says The First Lady Of Kwara State

The Commander, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kwara State Command, Mr Ambrose Umoru has said during the Press Conference to commemorate the year 2020 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking, that 195 arrest were made in the operation by the Command from January of this year till date.
According to him, 49 of them were females, In a related development, the kwara State First lady, Dr (Mrs) Olufolake Abdulrazaq has expressed displeasure over the rate of drug Abuse and illicit drug trafficking in Kwara State especially among women and young girls.
According to information GISTHUBCITY gathered. Her Excellency then charged the Kwara State Drug Control Committee, Chairperson  Pharm. Barakat Olarenwaju to intensify more effort on campaign against drug abuse with a view to reduce the abuse of drugs in Kwara State.
“There is a need by the Committee to rededicate efforts against Fight and campaign against Women involvement in Drug trade and Substance abuse.
She also charged the Ministry of Social Development, Non Governmental Organizations (NGO) and other relevant stakeholders against drug Abuse in the society.
The National Coordinator for Option2world Initiative Against Drug abuse (NGO), Mr (DF) Adeoye Kayode.S. commended Mrs Olufolake Abdulrazaq for her selfless effort to reduce drug abuse in the state.
He give praise to the KDSCC for their achievements since 2012 when the Committee was inaugurated.
Mr Adeoye However announced that the focus of his NGO will be on Market women, Females traders ,Women Associations, Students ,Females professional group like Association of Lady Pharmacist, Association of Female Lawyers, Female Teachers among others .
He informed that their roles in reducing drug abuse is very important in the fight.
